In 1944, the United States Army Corps of Engineers completed what would be its first impoundment in Arkansas. A concrete dam, miniature in comparison to the likes of Hoover Dam, backed up the waters of the North Fork River and what we now know as Lake Norfork, became a reality.

In the 60 years since its conception, Lake Norfork has become one of the country's top resort lakes. Norfork boasts of 550 miles of shoreline fringed with every type of resort known to humankind. Those in search of relaxation can find cabins with every luxury known or rough it out with the bare necessities in a U.S. Corps of Engineer campground.
