QUALIFICATION SHOOT TO BE HELD

September 1st, 2010

The fall qualification shoot for retired law enforcement officers will be 8:30am, October 15th.

The shoot will be held at the law enforcement firing range on Baxter County Road 782, off State Highway 201 North.

The cost for each retired officer is $10, payable in advance at the sheriff’s office. Retired officers interested in participating must fill out an application and sign a liability waiver at the sheriff’s office prior to October 13th. Retired officers must furnish their own ammunition.

Retired officers who are interested in shooting should apply as early as possible because the size of the group the range can accommodate is limited.

Retired officers who pass the course will be issued a course completion card by the sheriff’s office as proof of firearms qualification. They WILL NOT be issused a qualification card from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Office, as done previously.

FISH FRY

September 1st, 2010

The Henderson Fire Department and Henderson Fire Department Auxiliary will be hosting their annual fish fry.

Date: Saturday, September 4th
Time: 3pm-7pm
Where: Henderson Firehouse

The menu includes catfish, potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, desserts and beverages.

The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for children.

CITY POOL AT COOPER PARK

August 31st, 2010

The Mountain Home City Pool at Cooper Park will remain open until September 30th.

Pool’s schedule for Labor Day (Monday, September 6):
9:30am-12:30pm for adult swim; 10am-11am water exercise
12:30pm-8pm open swim with water exercise 6:30pm-7:30pm

Effective September 7, the pool’s hours will be:

Monday-Friday - 10am-1pm
Saturday - 11:30am-4:30pm
Sunday - 12:30pm-4:30pm

Private parties also will be available Monday-Sunday.

YOUTH CENTER TO CLOSE FOR HOLIDAY

The L.C. Sammons Youth Center will be closed September 4 and September 6 for the Labor Day holiday.

Saturday, August 21st, is the monthly Angel food delivery for those who ordered food earlier this mongh. Food should be picked up at locations where orders were placed. Take a large container to carry the food.

Library Friends slate a quarterly used book sale.

Where: The old library building located at 424 W. Seventh Street

The sale includes fiction and nonfiction books, both hardcover and paperback, as well as videos and music. Most paperbacks are $1 or less, most hardcover books are priced less than $2 and current like-new books are $5 or less.

BULL SHOALS LIBRARY FRIENDS FUNDRAISER

The Bull Shoals Library Friends luncheon and style show is set Friday, August 13th, at First Baptist Church in Bull Shoals. Lunch is set for 11 a.m., with a style show from the Little Bit Used Shop following at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at Bull Shoals Library or Little Bit Used Shop. Seating is limited.
